Wood

hi, I have a nice chunk of ash tree branch, looks fantastic, and I want to know, is it safe to stick in the aquarium? Our water is a little on the hard side, so it wouldn't affect the blue acaras too much, and I thought they would enjoy exploring it (as they have now scoped every nook and cranny in the tank!)

so, poisonus? or adversly affecting the water conditions? or is Ash as safe as the traditional drift wood we use?

would that also be true for Fraxinus excelsior (European Ash or Common Ash) or are you referring to American species?

I was referencing american ash. im not certain about the one's you listed.
I would do some research on those species before taking the risk if messing up your tank. ;plo)

I had to chop a bit off to fit it in, so have put that in a bottle of water, will test the stats and keep an eye on it, I just worry about toxins, cuz I can't really test for them.
