They'll sometimes stick better when wet.

I read somewhere that if you put them in water then microwave it for 30 seconds then it sticks better so i just put them in a glass of hot water for a minute and they are stuck on fine, but thanks for the help anyway

Try a small amount of petroleum jelly, it should create a better seal.

Yeah i tried the petroleum jelly route and it worked well, they stay stuck on for quite a while but need to be stuck back on every now and then

If I never intend to remove the item or it can be serviced in position I silicone them on.
Can be removed if and when you do need to remove though with a razor blade.

You can clean them with vinegar too that usually takes any grease or smoke/dirt off them which will help them stick. (not just cigarette smoke, burnt foods also cause smoke which attaches itself to things too)
