Looking good Jackolas. I'm still contemplating going the Betta/Bamboo route, like
we discussed before. Have you completely given up on the concept? Do you feel
like the tank lighting would be a problem? I thought of an open top aquarium, and
a flexible fluorescent desk lamp might do the trick. Run it about 6 inches above the
tank. Just curious if you have any further thoughts on this. :read:

I think an open top aquarium would work far better. I didnt see any signs of the submerged bamboo rotting.

The only thing to remember is that Bettas are prone to jumping, especially if you plan on breeding them, or mixing them with other fish

Good point weirdartist. I hadn't thought of that. Maybe if I kept the
tank level down a couple of inches. It wouldn't look as nice, but it might
keep the old boy inside! :jump:

Just a quick update as its been a while. Not a whole lot has changed the apple snails are now in the orb as it needs more cleaning and this tank has now become some kind of plant hospital while I am experimenting which plants the barbs like to trash for fun (seems to be quite a lot of them) :dev:

The tank must be full of nutrients as plants really thrive in this tank and it has taken on somehwat of an overgrown look which I really like and also cuthbert seems to enjoy it.
anyway, some pics;
