Fish not 'breathing' properly, help please???

Postby catnicki1978 » Sun Aug 31, 2014 10:07 pm

Hi, we have a 6 inch Comet with Swim Bladder, we have been treating him with various treatments over the last few days and earlier we gave him a 30 min Epsom Salt dip (1 Tablespoon - 1 Gallon).

He was quite active, also ate some peas (hadnt been eating peas in the main tank) but after we put him back in the main tank he appears to not be able to breathe as well.

We have now put him back in the bucket (minus the salt).

Any advice would be great!

Thanks

Nicki

what size of tank is he is, is there a filter in the tank? Do you know what the stats are? Do a big water change because difficulty breathing is often caused by ammonia, nitrite or too high nitrates. Being in the fresher water in the bucket will be why he is doing better. If you do have a filter in the tank only clean it in old tank water never under the tap as that can kill the bacteria needed to keep the tank healthy.
