Bumble bee gobies

Postby malakye » Tue Apr 24, 2012 9:06 pm

I am getting some of these at the weekend, hopefully I can add them in with the muddies but to begin with they will be isolated until I can make sure they are disease free. Has anyone kept them?

we use to have em regularly at aquatic rooms, brackish, fairly territorial so should hold their own with the muddies, spend alot of time perched in funny positions around the tank!
Keep good water = Keep good fish!!

Heres the wee guys in the jug before being introduced to the mudskippers tank.

and in the tank making themselves at home.

The black lyretails who were sharing the mudskippers tank have been evicted after they tried to eat the bumblebees so they are now being acclimatised back over to freshwater then they will be added into the big tank.

They really do look like little bumblebees who have had their wings pulled off although in the water they sort of buzz round. They really are adorable and becoming one of my new favourites. What did amaze me is the size of their mouths, for such small fish their mouths are huge.

What a joy for you to see them so happy. Looking forward to a new vid when you are able, so we can see them in the lovely habitat you have created, and watch them interacting with the mudskippers (or do they keep themselves to themselves?)
