Great tips everyone, I've recently got a new tank so want to buy new gravel, will definitely head straight to the DIY shop!

Quick question, might be dumb but can you have sand if you have pleco's?!

yes you can have sand with plecs, its actually kinder to their mouths than gravel is. If you are planning cory catfish of any kind it is better for them as gravel can damage their delicate barbels.
