Water Parameter Guideline for Saltwater Aquariums

Here are some suggested water parameters for salt water aquariums.

REEF

Salinity: 1.025 - 1.026
Temp: 72 - 78°F
pH: 8.1 - 8.4
Alkalinity: 8 - 12 dKH
Ammonia: Undetectable
Nitrite: Undetectable
Nitrate: 1.0 ppm
Phosphate: 0.2 ppm
Calcium: 400 - 450 ppm
Magnesium: 1350 - 1450 ppm
Iodine: 0.06 - 0.10 ppm
Strontium: 8 - 14 ppm


FOWLR (fish only with live rock)

All is the same besides the following changes:

Nitrate/Nitrogen: 30 ppm
Phosphate: 1.0 ppm
Strontium: 4 - 10 ppm


AVERAGE LEVELS FOR CORAL REEFS

All is same as REEF besides the following changes:

Salinity: 1.025
Temp: 82°F
ph: 8.0 - 8.5
Alk: 6 - 8 dKH
Nitrate: .25 ppm
Phosphate: .13 ppm
Iodine: .06 ppm
Strontium: 8 - 10 ppm

Remember, these are only SUGGESTED. They do not have to be exact so don't kill yourself trying to get the numbers right. Just close. ;)
