I have the flow from the main tank hitting it as it enters the sump. It seems to do ok.

Hi sorry only just notice this lol. The best way I know is to put in a filter sock and have it in ur sump or external filter. How do u have ur water running into ur tank is it though a wier?.

I know a lot of people use this way to have a some filter wool where ur water comes into the sump from the main tank then have ur phos remover and or carbon wrap in the middle of the filter wool then its in the flow.
