What's everyones plans this winter

Postby Anita » Sun Nov 03, 2013 12:58 pm

What is your plans regarding fishkeeping this winter?

Mine is to tidy up my tank after several months of neglect. Need to source some more Dwarf Pencil Fish if possible (they are always wild caught and there not on the fish shop supply lists atm).
Last weekend I made a bit of a start and completely changed the substrate back to sand. The next day I went to the fish shop and bought a few shrimps. In the week I ordered some dwarf chain sword (E. tenellus)on line. That has been delivered and I planted it yesterday, hoping to get a nice carpet going :-):

as a second tank or would you be swapping over from the corner tank? Most stores will pricematch I know maidenhead stores do, or at least they do up here.

I'll be swapping over from the Trigon 190.
The corner tank looks lovely visually, but they are a nightmare if you want a good water flow. I have a Rena XP3 external with spraybar which is more than big enough for a 190.
I also use 2 Koralia nano power heads to help direct the water, but because of the corner shape the water will not circulate either from front to back (without dead spots) or smoothly around the tank. I've tried every layout possible.
It's a great tank if you are not to bothered about plants but I like my planting.
I posted a thread on an aquascapers forum and was surprised by the answers I got, everyone said the same and has gone back to a rectangular tank.
So I've thrown in the towel as it's beat me and I'm sick of chucking money at it. I even bought a Glo luminaire for more lighting a couple of months ago even though I knew deep down the lights were fine. But that's ok as it can go on the new tank.
TBH it's been getting on my nerves for so long that I was thinking of giving up fish keeping altogether :wtf:
I need a new start.

All ordered and paid for, they matched Swell UK's (online) price.
Steve and I will pick it up tomorrow after work.
It will be funny going back to a normal shaped tank :-):
